History: In 1995, the Sunridge Foundation was established. It was the dream of local visionary, Jim Flynn, to fill a community need: to provide the local non-profit organizations with needed funding, in order to survive and grow. The Sunridge Foundation was created as an all volunteer, 501(C) (3) organization, to provide financial support to community organizations serving our local area needs.
In 2006, the Sunridge Foundation evolved into the Fountain Hills Community Foundation. With its new name, a greater opportunity to provide financial support commenced, and the Endowment program began. In 2009, the Fountain Hills Community Foundation continued to grow, and established the Flynn Society, in honor of its founder, Jim Flynn. The Flynn Society is one program within the Foundation that was established to create the financial infrastructure needed for our annual giving programs.
Who We Support: Since 1995, through the generous support of our friends and business associates, the Foundation has provided well over $1 million to more then 40 local area charities serving the needs of our citizens. Annually, the Foundation makes grants to support the requests coming from the local community organizations. In addition, three organizations received start-up funding from the Foundation, which established these new services in our town. These three non-profit organizations would not be in our community providing services as they are today, without the financial assistance from the Foundation. The three groups are: Boys & Girls Club, Senior Center and Junior Achievement.
