Fountain Hills Community Foundation helping others

FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz (October 15, 2006) — The Fountain Hills Community Foundation (formally known as the Sunridge Foundation) has been very busy over the past 10 years raising funds to help local charitable organizations grow and prosper.

The mission is simple, yet important:  the Fountain Hills Community Foundation is dedicated to supporting educational, cultural and humanitarian activities in the Fountain Hills area.  Mike Petrone, President of the Fountain Hills Community Foundation is proud to be involved with the Foundation.  “Many people in this community have volunteered or are still volunteering to make our Foundation very successful.  I’m pleased to be able to work with so many talented, giving people.  When the Foundation is successful at raising funds, then local charities benefit.  When our local charities benefit, our community as a whole improves.”

Over the past 10 years, more then $1 million has been raised and distributed to local charities.  Chances are something your family has been involved in recently, was partially made possible, thanks to grants from the Fountain Hills Community Foundation made to local non-profits.

Organizations that have received funding are diverse and wide spread, serving the young and “young at heart”.  A partial list of the benefiting charities include:  ADOG, Boy Scouts, Boys & Girls Club, Cub Scouts, Falcon Boosters, Art Council, Charter School PTO, Civic Association, Community Chorus, Community Theater, Girl Scouts, Historical Society Little League, Mentoring Council, Ministerial Alliance, Sister City Committee, Soccer Club, Junior Achievement, Golden Eagle Foundation, Sheriff’s Posse, Pop Warner and Senior Services.

The Fountain Hills Community Foundation raises funds with all proceeds going to local non-profit organizations.  In addition to raising money annually for local charities, the Foundation raises funds to bring new programs to the community.  The Fountain Hills Community Foundation has been a Founding Sponsor for three organizations – providing start-up funds necessary to get the organization operating in Fountain Hills.  The first group sponsored by the Foundation was the Boys and Girls Club which received $75,000 over a three year period.  The second group to receive start-up funding was the Senior Center of Fountain Hills which received $50,000 over a two year period.  The newest Founding Sponsor program is Junior Achievement, which will receive $75,000 over a three year period starting in 2006.

“We do our best to raise money to help local charities, because these charities help make our Town one of the best places to live.  Together we are improving the quality of life through giving,” said Petrone.  “I’m proud to do what I can to help in that endeavor.”

The Fountain Hills Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the educational, cultural and humanitarian activities in the Fountain Hills area.  To learn more about the Fountain Hills Community Foundation, call 480-827-1287.  The Fountain Hills Community Foundation is developing a new web site and it is expected to be up and running soon at fountainhillscommunityfoundation.org.
