FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz (October 11, 2006) — The Fountain Hills Community Foundation (formally known as the Sunridge Foundation) has raised and distributed over $1 million dollars to local charitable organizations since 1995. “This was no small feat,” said Mike Petrone, President of the Fountain Hills Community Foundation. “Our success was due to the board and committee members that have so tirelessly dedicated their time to our fund-raising events and of course to the wonderful people in this community that have attended our events. I’ve been surrounded by a great group of caring and willing volunteers and a giving community.”
The Foundation is made up of all volunteers. Over the past 10 years, there have been more then one hundred board members and committee members that have spent hundreds of hours each year volunteering their time – all in the name of charity – all to improve the quality of life in our community.
“Members of the Board of Directors of the Foundation have worked tirelessly over the years, to help make Fountain Hills one of the best places to live - if not the best,” said Petrone. “The Foundation wouldn’t be successful if it weren’t for all the residents and local businesses that have participated in the different fund-raising events organized by the Foundation. Truthfully, the Foundation’s success is thanks to the community – all of you who have ever attended or donated gifts to one of our fund-raisers. This town, its people and the local companies that call Fountain Hills home, have been very generous over the past decade. I’ve called Fountain Hills home since 1978 and I’ve never been more proud to be part of such a worthwhile organization and such a giving community.”
The Fountain Hills Community Foundation raises funds with all the proceeds going to local non-profit organizations. In addition to raising money annually for our local charities, the Foundation raises funds to bring new programs to the community. The Fountain Hills Community Foundation has been a Founding Sponsor for three organizations – providing the start-up funds necessary to get the organization operating in Fountain Hills. The first group sponsored by the Foundation was the Boys and Girls Club which received $75,000 over a three year period. The second group to receive start-up funding was the Senior Center of Fountain Hills which received $50,000 over a two year period. The newest Founding Sponsor program is Junior Achievement, which will receive $75,000 over a three year period starting in 2006.
The Foundation has a goal for 2007 to be able to give $125,000 to local charities that benefit the youth, families and seniors of the community; $100,000 for grants to existing local non-profit groups and an additional $25,000 for the new Founding Sponsor project, Junior Achievement. “We hope the community continues to support the Foundation and improve the quality of life in this community as we start our next decade of fund-raising,” said Petrone.
The Fountain Hills Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the educational, cultural and humanitarian activities in the Fountain Hills area.
